Angels 8, San Francisco 0

AT THE PLATE: Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick opened the first inning with singles, and Bobby Abreu lined a two-run home run to right field, ending Matt Cain’s scoreless streak at 311/3 innings dating to the 2010 regular season. Cain didn’t give up a run in 211/3 postseason innings. Mark Trumbo (double) and Jeff Mathis (single) also knocked in runs in a five-run first.

ON THE MOUND: Ervin Santana threw five innings, giving up four hits, striking out six and walking two in 84 pitches. Fernando Rodney gave up a single to start the sixth but struck out the next three batters, and Hisanori Takahashi blanked the Giants in the seventh and eighth, extending his spring scoreless-innings streak to 11.

EXTRA BASES: Peter Bourjos reached on a bunt single to open the fourth inning and used his speed to confound an opponent. Aybar dropped a bloop double to right field, and as the relay came in to shortstop Miguel Tejada, Bourjos never slowed around third base. Tejada looked so stunned that he spiked his throw home into the ground, the ball rolling to the first base dugout as Bourjos scored.

UP NEXT: Scott Kazmir faces the Milwaukee Brewers and left-hander Randy Wolf in Tempe Diablo Stadium at 1 p.m. PDT.

ON THE AIR: TV: FS West. Radio: KLAA 830.
