Aroldis Chapman to join New York Yankees
Reliever Aroldis Chapman will be eligible to pitch for the New York Yankees on Monday night at home against Kansas City after serving a 29-game suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy.
The left-hander agreed to a 30-game penalty in March. The Yankees had one game postponed because of bad weather, and the agreement said Chapman would be credited for any rainouts.
The Yankees got Chapman in an off-season trade with Cincinnati.
Rangers put Griffin on the disabled list
Texas Rangers right-hander A.J. Griffin was put on the 15-day disabled list after leaving his start in the third inning Saturday at Detroit because of stiffness in his throwing shoulder.
Griffin is 3-0 with a 2.94 earned-run average in six starts.
