Inaugural class named for Southern California Indoor Volleyball Hall of Fame
It’s a who’s who of volleyball greats named as the 25-member inaugural class of the newly formed Southern California Indoor Volleyball Hall of Fame.
Seven members of the 1988 Olympic Games USA men’s team that won the gold medal lead the class. There’s also eight players and coaches with ties to UCLA and five USC Olympic medalists.
The Hall of Fame will be housed at the American Sports Centers in Anaheim where the USA men’s and women’s national teams train. An induction ceremony is scheduled for May 7.
Karch Kiraly, Bob Ctvrtlik, Steve Timmons, Craig Buck, Doug Partie, Jeff Stork and Ricci Luyties were all selected, along with Coach Marv Dunphy. They were part of the 1988 Seoul Olympics gold medal team.
Former UCLA coaches Al Scates and Andy Banachowski, along with 1979 NCAA MVP Sinjin Smith, are also among the inductees.
Here’s the link to the complete inductees.
