Report: Willis McGahee passes physical, agrees to terms with Browns

Veteran Willis McGahee looks like he will become the starting running back for the Cleveland Browns, the team that shipped its last starter off to Indianapolis two games into the season.

Job security aside, McGahee has to be happy to have passed his physical and agreed to terms with the Browns, according to a report by NFL Media.

He is coming off a torn medial collateral ligament and compression fracture that ended his 2012 season with Denver and was reportedly cut by the Broncos in June because of concerns related to that injury.

Since then, he has passed physicals from three other teams, including the Browns, and is said to be in great shape, which should be more than enough to put him in the starting spot over Bobby Rainey and Chris Ogbonnaya.

McGahee is a two-time Pro Bowler who has topped the 1,100-yard rushing mark four times in his nine-year career with Buffalo, Baltimore and the Broncos. He has rushed for 8,067 yards and 63 touchdowns, including 731 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games last year before getting hurt.

He was Buffalo’s first-round pick, 23rd overall, in 2003. Chances are, though, it wasn’t that fact that impressed the Browns. On Wednesday they traded Trent Richardson -- the guy they drafted last year with the third overall pick -- to the Colts for a first-round choice in 2014.
