Pacific Surfliner rail service between Oxnard and San Luis Obispo, which had been temporarily halted because of the Thomas fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, resumed Saturday, according to an Amtrak statement.

It’s good news for holiday travelers, who can now board in San Diego and travel north to Oxnard, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. (No checked-luggage service at Santa Barbara until further notice.)

Rail service on the popular coastal route was halted Dec. 9 through Friday to destinations north of Los Angeles. As of Sunday evening, the wildfire had burned 270,000 acres and was 45% contained.
