Megabus will give you a free bus ride if your holiday flight gets canceled

Share

Megabus is offering holiday travelers a free bus ticket to their destination if their flight is canceled. It’s the first time the company has made such an offer to stranded airline passengers.

The move came this month after American Airlines announced that, because of a scheduling glitch, it had given too many pilots the holidays off.

The airline since has reassured travelers their flights will go, but Megabus plans to keep its offer on the table.

Who would take them up on this? Bus travel may not be a flier’s first choice, but a free ticket might bail you out if you’re faced with spending a night at the airport — and not in a hotel.

For example, if your flight between New York City and Philadelphia is canceled, Megabus will give you a free ticket for the two-hour bus ride. If your flight between L.A. and Las Vegas is canceled, you can take the bus instead. Buses are equipped with free Wi-Fi too.

To take advantage of what Megabus calls the Airline Glitch Fix, email proof of your flight cancellation and a request for a free ticket to inquiries@megabus.com. The offer is good only on your original travel date from Thursday through Dec. 31.

Of course, Megabus will take you to destinations only in its service area.
