With AeroChannel.com, get to the airport on time

Special to The Los Angeles Times

When do you start thinking about how long it will take you to get to your gate at the airport? Do you start worrying when you’re stuck in traffic for 30 minutes or does your anxiety ramp up when you hit the check-in desk? AeroChannel.com is a simple website designed to streamline your getting-to-the-airport experience, whether you’re a worrywart or always prepared.

What’s hot: You can find flight delays, airport traffic and security information by punching in your airport or airline and flight number. Under the alerts, the most recent update is noted. (The site is updated continually.) Parking news is a bonus. When I checked Los Angeles International Airport on the site, it told me all lots were open and to allow 25 minutes if parking in and taking a shuttle from economy lots B and C. If I needed to reserve parking, AeroChannel linked me to Park ‘n Fly’s site.

What’s not: You can check AeroChannel from your cellphone or PDA from Aero2go.com. But text message alerts aren’t active yet, so you might want to stick with your airline’s alert system, or use FlightStats.com until AeroChannel is out of beta. AeroChannel’s “tipsters” idea is reminiscent of what Orbitz Traveler Update does, so test the various services before relying on one.
