Scout Willis arrested on open-container, fake-ID charges in N.Y.

Scout Willis, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, was arrested by New York transit police Monday evening, popped on suspicion of drinking alcohol in public and presenting a fake ID to law enforcement.

Court papers said the 20-year-old was drinking an 8-ounce “Pakistani beer” at Union Square subway station, according to the New York Daily News, which first reported the incident.

Willis, a student at Rhode Island’s Brown University, was reportedly released without bail Tuesday and is scheduled to return to court regarding her two misdemeanor charges — an open-container violation and criminal impersonation — on July 31.

Though Willis allegedly first presented a fake New York ID with the name “Katherine Kennedy,” she later coughed up her legit California ID and stated her real name, according to the police report. “She was honest about who she was,” Willis’ attorney told the Daily News. “She is a very proper, very impressive, smart young woman.”

Heck, we’re just impressed by the notion of getting busted for a wee Pakistani beer, as opposed to a more pedestrian 40-ounce bottle of malt liquor, or perhaps a shoeful of heroin.

New to the concept of Pakistani beer? That’s not surprising. The country has only one brewery, according to the Guardian newspaper, and alcohol exports have been banned since 1977. This past winter, however, that rule was eased to allow exports to non-Muslim nations only.

See? See what happens? This way lies madness.

At least it was only beer and not a sugar soda. Though at only 8 ounces, if it had been a Coke that Willis was quaffing, she might have made Mayor Bloomberg’s honor roll.

[For the record, 6:10 p.m. July 31: This post originally misidentified Union Square subway station as Union Station.]
