David Krumholtz, who played a mathematical whiz for six seasons in the CBS series “Numb3rs,” will join Danny DeVito and Judd Hirsch -- the latter played Krumholtz’s dad in the TV show -- in the upcoming revival of Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys” at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Krumholtz will play the role of DeVito’s nephew, a talent scout who engineers a television reunion between his uncle and his estranged vaudeville partner (Hirsch).

“The Sunshine Boys” is scheduled to run at the Ahmanson from Sept. 24 to Nov. 3, with the official opening night scheduled for Oct. 2. Thea Sharrock, who directed the London production, is returning to stage the play in L.A.

Krumholtz, who has appeared in all three “Harold & Kumar” movies as a stoner neighbor to the two protagonists, previously appeared on stage with Hirsch in the 1992 Broadway production of “Conversations with My Father.”
