Jay-Z's 'Picasso Baby' documentary debuts Friday on HBO

Pop star Jay-Z will bring his art gallery what-is-it project "Picasso Baby" to television audiences with a new documentary airing on HBO starting Friday.

"Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film," debuting Friday at 11 p.m. on the premium cable channel, chronicles Jay-Z's six-hour performance at New York's Pace Gallery in July. The pop-star performed his single "Picasso Baby" and engaged in various sorts of audience interaction during the marathon gallery event.

The documentary is directed by music-video veteran Mark Romanek. The movie will air immediately following Jay-Z's appearance on Friday's season closer of "Real Time with Bill Maher."

A trailer for the documentary, seen in the video above, shows the singer interacting with performance artist Marina Abramovic, actor Alan Cumming and director Judd Apatow.

"Piccaso Baby" is a rap single from the artist's album "Magna Carta ...Holy Grail." In it, he riffs on his appetite for collecting art, including his desire for works by Jeff Koons, Mark Rothko and others.
