TV ratings: ‘Marry Me’ makes solid debut; ‘The Flash’ holds momentum

NBC won the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic on Tuesday night with help from “The Voice” and the premiere of the sitcom “Marry Me.”

According to Nielsen ratings, the NBC singing competition earned a rating of 3.3 in the key demo. The show was No. 1 in the desired category and was third most watched overall, averaging 11.9 million viewers.

Meanwhile, the premiere of the network’s new comedy “Marry Me” pulled in strong numbers. From “Happy Endings” creator David Caspe, the show stars Ken Marino and Casey Wilson as Jake and Annie, a long-term couple who have remained inseparable but decide to postpone their engagement after returning from a romantic vacation.

The show earned a rating of 2.3, making it the No. 3 most watched program among the key demo. It averaged 7.8 million viewers.

The Season 2 premiere of NBC’s “About a Boy,” based on Nick Hornby’s novel, retained 78% of its lead-in from “Marry Me” in the key demo. It earned a rating of 1.8 in the demographic and averaged 6.2 million viewers.

The network, which also aired “Chicago Fire,” was No. 1 in the key demo, with a rating of 2.4. It came in second overall with about 8.7 million viewers.

On CBS, “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans” were the top two most watched programs of the night.

“NCIS” averaged 17 million viewers and a rating of 2.5 in the key demo. “NCIS: New Orleans” trailed slightly behind with 15.9 million viewers and a rating of 2.2 in the key demo.

Also on the network, “Person of Interest” tied its series low and was down 6% from last week, with a rating of 1.5. It averaged 9.7 million viewers.

The network was No. 1 overall with about 14.2 million viewers. It posted a rating of 2.1 in the key demo.

The CW’s “The Flash” continued its momentum from a strong debut last week. Though down 16% from its premiere, the show earned a rating of 1.6 in the key demo. It averaged 4.1 million viewers, rounding out the top 10 most watched programs overall.

With a rating of 1.3, the CW, which also aired “Supernatural,” was No. 3 in the key demo, topping Fox and ABC.

Fox’s “New Girl” dropped 14% in the key demo, with a rating of 1.2. “The Mindy Project” stayed even with last week, with a rating of 1.0 in the key demo.

On ABC, “Selfie” fell 17% from last week, with a rating of 1.0. “Manhattan Love Story,” which followed, stayed even with last week, with a rating of 0.9 in the key demo.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was down 6% and tied its series low, with a rating of 1.6 in the key demo.

“Forever” averaged the most viewers for the network -- about 4.7 million -- but fell 15% from last week, with a rating of 1.1. in the key demo.

The network averaged 4.2 million viewers overall, making it the No. 3 most watched of the night.
