‘Girls’: Alex Karpovsky on Ray, Andy Kaufman and pal Lena Dunham

When we last saw Ray in the Season 2 finale of “Girls,” girlfriend Shoshanna had unceremoniously kicked him to the curb. Does that mean he’s going to go back to living in his Mitsubishi? It’s got to be a tight fit in there, what with the size of his beloved Andy Kaufman standee. What’s our favorite coffee-dispensing curmudgeon going to do?

Alex Karpovsky, who plays Ray on Lena Dunham’s HBO comedy, dropped by for a Web chat to answer these questions. Now halfway through shooting “Girls’” third season, Karpovsky shared his thoughts on the character’s future as well as working with the Coen brothers and beginning a burgeoning collection of Kaufman memorabilia.
