David Arquette and Christina McLarty are engaged
David Arquette and Christina McLarty are engaged, the actor’s rep confirmed Thursday.
The couple have been dating on and off since 2011 and welcomed a son, Charlie West, a little more than two months ago.
The proposal went down at a restaurant in Malibu, according to E! News, which first reported the betrothal. What appeared to be a casual dinner out with the kids -- Arquette’s daughter Coco, 10, was there, as was her baby brother -- turned romantic when the “Scream” actor, 42, took everyone outside at sunset, dropped to one knee and popped the question to entertainment reporter McLarty, 33, the website said.
It’s not the only recent proposal in Miss Coco’s life, however: Her mom, Courteney Cox, said yes a week ago when Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid asked for her hand in marriage.
Perhaps the proposal proximity was just a coincidence, though: One source told Us Weekly the exes had “both talked about taking the next step in their relationships” while another said Arquette had been planning his proposal “for a while.
Cox and Arquette separated in 2010 after nine years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in May 2013.
