One Direction’s Liam Payne regrets ‘stupid,’ ‘irresponsible’ photo

Share

One Direction singer Liam Payne has apologized for posting a photo of himself in a precarious situation.

The snapshot in question featured the UK boy bander standing on what appears to be a ledge of a 34th-floor balcony of an East London high-rise (Think: Christian Bale’s Batman lurking in the shadows in “The Dark Knight”). The photo was reportedly taken by one of his buddies over the weekend following his bandmate Zayn Malik’s 21st birthday. It has since been removed from Twitter but was obtained by the Daily Mail.

Naturally, rabid 1D fans took to social media out of concern for the 20-year-old heartthrob’s well-being — translation: freaked OUT — which ultimately warranted a Tuesday apology from Payne.

“You may have seen a photo of me today taken on top of a building. I regret being there and having a photo taken,” the “Best. Song. Ever” crooner wrote, adding, “It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry, and do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this, as it is extremely dangerous.”

“Worse things have happened, I’m sure we’ll be fine ;)” he later said.

In December, the mega-popular band made chart history in the United States, according to Pop & Hiss, with their third album “Midnight Memories” hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making them the first group since the Monkees to have their first three albums hit No. 1 in their opening weeks.

But, as they say, with great success comes great sacrifice.

The singer took to his Twitter feed to explain another of his plights: The lack of privacy outside his home now that his address has been obtained from photos posted on social media.

“I know my friends have tweeted a lot of pictures of my house the past few days but can people please stop coming and waiting outside,” he wrote.

“I’d just like to be able to walk outside as everyone does and enjoy time with my friends, not feel bad for not wanting to take a picture,” Payne continued, adding, “Sorry if I’ve been rude to anyone but I’ve come to realise if I take one picture more people keep coming everyday xxx hope everyone’s good”

Ahh, the price of fame.
