Ryan Gosling reveals himself as ‘the creepy cookie guy’

Ryan Gosling, creepy? He says he definitely was this one time not so long ago — and it involved Girl Scouts.

First, let’s set some background, as told to Jimmy Kimmel by Gosling on Kimmel’s show Thursday night.

As a boy, the “Crazy, Stupid, Love” actor was slightly traumatized, it turns out, when he had to sell a bunch of plastic wrap his dad had come by unexpectedly. After trying unsuccessfully to hawk it to friends and even teachers, he found himself stationed outside of the supermarket, targeting shoppers and wishing someone would simply come by and make his day.

“I had a fantasy that one day someone would buy all of it,” Gosling said. “Like some guy would just come along and be like, ‘I’ll take ‘em all,’ which never happened.”

Fast forward to maybe five or six years ago, to a world where Gosling is an adult, hanging out around Santa Monica. And he sees some Girl Scouts selling cookies outside of a Ralphs.

And he decides to be that guy. The “I’ll take ‘em all” guy.

“It seemed like a good idea at the time,” he told Kimmel. “Look, I regret it.”

Gosling didn’t realize how many “all” would be. “All” actually filled up his car.

“So I started just throwing them out the window to people on the street.... At the time I thought, ‘This must be what Santa Claus feels like!’ ” he said joyfully. “And then I looked at this one person. He’s looking at me, and I realized, like, through their eyes I wasn’t Santa Claus. I was just a creepy cookie guy.”

“Who is this guy? ... What happened to the Girl Scouts, and why does he have all their cookies?”

Gosling’s “Gangster Squad” opens Friday. No cookies involved (though National Girl Scout Cookie Day is coming up Feb. 8, if a thin mint is sounding good right about now).
