Weird Al Yankovic is set to star in ‘Milo Murphy’s Law,’ Disney XD’s new animated series

Weird Al Yankovic is headed to a TV near you -- or his voice is, at least.

Yankovic has been tapped to voice Milo Murphy, the title character in the new animated series “Milo Murphy’s Law,” Disney XD has announced.

The new show from “Phineas and Ferb” creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh follows Milo, the fictional great-great-great-great grandson of the original Murphy’s Law’s namesake, who suffers from “Extreme Hereditary Murphy’s Law Condition.”

“Murphy’s Law,” of course, is the well known adage that says “if something can go wrong, it will.” But don’t worry, Milo is armed with endless optimism, a backpack full of supplies and his friends Melissa Chase (voiced by Sabrina Carpenter) and Zack Underwood (Mekai Curtis) to make the best of his catastrophes.

In addition to providing Milo’s voice, Yankovic will sing the show’s opening theme song, as well as sing as Milo on original songs throughout the series.

“Milo Murphy’s Law” will also feature a pretty expansive voice cast. Christian Slater (“Mr. Robot”) will play Milo’s enemy, a school crossing guard named Elliot Decker; Vanessa Williams will be Zack’s mom, Eileen Underwood; Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs,” “Ricky and Morty”) is science teacher Mrs. Murawski; Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”) will hopefully also be singing as popular TV character Dr. Zone; Mackenzie Phillips (“American Graffiti,” “One Day at a Time”) is Principal Milder -- and that’s just half the cast.
