The antics keep avenging! Scarlett Johansson got a scare from her “Avengers: Age of Ultron” costar Chris Evans during Thursday’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

The actress, who plays spy-assassin Black Widow in Marvel’s latest installment of the superhero franchise, was in the middle of dishing on the film’s male-heavy roster when host Ellen DeGeneres prompted her about her professional history with Evans. The duo has worked together on five films, including 2007’s “The Nanny Diaries,” before sharing the screen again on “Ultron.”

“I surround myself with like an army of women to kind of protect me against all the testosterone. We’re talking about actors, they’re very delicate,” she quipped. “[Chris] Hemsworth hair takes much longer than me, for sure.”

Ever the prankster, DeGeneres had a stealthy surprise in store for her guest -- this film’s other Chris.

“We’ve been working together since, I don’t know, like 17, I think,” Johansson said. “I know him very well. Too well I’m sure.”

Enter a slinking Captain America -- a plainclothes-clad Evans -- to scare Johansson more than a spider might scare an arachnophobe.

The startled starlet shouted out in shock and covered her face, saying that was “terrifying” while Evans and DeGeneres laughed at the success of the host’s latest practical joke.

“It was his idea,” DeGeneres insisted. TooFab has the footage.

After that, Evans joined the host and his costar for a round of “Avenger? I hardly know her” using true-or-false paddles and some highly distracting pictures of a shirtless Evans.

Seems like there’s no bad blood following the actor’s remarks about Black Widow being “a complete whore,” which occurred in an interview with costar Jeremy Renner last week.

Johansson has been pummeled routinely with gender-centric questions as the sole female Avenger going into the latest film.

“For so long, female superheroes have been mistreated, and I think women’s roles in general are often oversimplified and generic and saccharine,” Johansson told Hero Complex before expounding on Black Widow’s complexity. She also discussed the newest female to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes -- Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in “Ultron.” (Read more about that here.)

During the pervasive press tour, the actress, who will begin filming “Captain America: Civil War” next week, also did a cheeky interview with costar Mark Ruffallo (the Hulk) and a clever Cosmo UK reporter flipped the script by posing typically masculine questions (stunt training and character development) to the actress and feminine questions (diets and red carpet posing) to the actor.

While the interview allowed for a fun role reversal in an otherwise exhaustive promotional promenade, Johansson and Ruffalo tried to get into it but seemed to struggle with answering in both cases, sometimes chiming in with rambling responses during the other’s “tough” inquiries. Hey, at least they helped each other out. Teamwork, folks.

The action film, which has already surpassed $250 million overseas, opens in theaters on Friday.
