Boosting the star power at the first of KROQ-FM’s two Almost Acoustic Christmas concerts over the weekend, No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani put in an unannounced appearance at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Saturday night with her husband Gavin Rossdale’s band Bush. The couple sang Bush’s 1995 ballad “Glycerine,” then shared a kiss as the crowd roared its approval. Watch a video of the performance below.

What makes this little alt-rock display even sweeter is that Stefani and Rossdale originally met 17 years ago at Almost Acoustic Christmas, back when Bush and No Doubt were ruling the post-grunge airwaves.

No Doubt was a surprise addition to Sunday’s bill, which also included the Killers, M83 and a pair of nominees for next year’s album-of-the-year Grammy: Jack White and Fun. In addition to Bush, Saturday’s show featured Linkin Park, Rise Against, Garbage and the Lumineers, among others.

“I thought it would be so powerful, the two of us onstage like that,” Rossdale told Rolling Stone after Stefani’s cameo. The Bush frontman also noted that for his band Saturday’s show represented “the culmination of two years of work, and then to finish it off playing here, in this venue, this full-circle thing, it was an incredible night.”

KROQ is scheduled to stream Sunday’s concert on its website Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.
