Art Along the Hyphen: The Mexican-American Generation Under the umbrella project “L.A. Xicano,” the new exhibition is one of four interrelated ones organized by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center, the Autry, the Fowler Museum at UCLA and LACMA. Presented as part of the Pacific Standard Time initiative, the exhibition brings together 100 rarely seen paintings and sculptures from 1945 to 1965 by artists Hernando Villa, Alberto Valdés, Domingo Ulloa, Roberto Chavez, Dora De Larios and Eduardo Carrillo. Thomas Dolby The English musician and producer, best known for his 1982 mega-hit, “She Blinded Me With Science,” presents an intimate lecture and performance of songs from his first new studio album in a decade, “A Map of the Floating City.” Don’t be surprised if he revisits older material from his 30-year career in music. Tom Green The unpredictable Canadian goofball first made a splash stateside with an eponymous comedy show on MTV, then tried his hand at film acting and most recently hosted an Internet talk show from his own living room. Los Angeles Food & Wine The festival featuring top chefs and in-demand restaurants debuts this weekend at L.A. Live (and various locations around the city), featuring more than 100 celebrity chefs taking part in demos, seminars, lunches, dinners and after-hours events, with tastings from more than 300 wineries.
