Backstage, winner Sarah Silverman was asked how she landed her role on “Masters of Sex.” Her response? She got intimate with the star of the show, of course.

“That really solidified it,” she joked, after single-handedly winning the variety special writing award for “Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles” on HBO, beating a list of nominees that included the 10 writers (including Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Seth Meyers) behind the Golden Globe Awards telecast.

“Yeah, I feel like I’ve suddenly been doing nudity since I turned 40,” she said. “They’re just boobs. Um, hey, yeah, they’re as low as they’ve ever been, but they’re also as high as they’ll ever be from this point on.”

When asked what her Jewish mom would think about Silverman accepting her Emmy barefoot, Silverman said, “My Jewish mom wears overalls and two different colored socks, so I think she’d think it was cool.” Plus, she said, her Emmys shoes hurt. “They’re by Geppetto.”

Silverman said she didn’t expect to win.

“I looked at my manager, Amy, and she was shocked too,” Silverman said. “And I was like, why are you shocked?”

Louis C.K. gets a ‘bang-bang’ idea

After beating teams from “Orange Is the New Black,” “Veep,” “Episodes” and “Silicon Valley” in the comedy series writing category, Louis C.K. offered his insights into the history behind a culinary feat celebrated on his show “Louie.”

“I was writing the episode … then I thought about me being with my bro Bobby,” he said. “Sometimes when I’m writing it just comes at me. I just had him say, ‘Let’s do a bang-bang,’ and I knew what that meant right away: You eat at two restaurants, fill your fat face and do it all over again.”

Tips for filming in the freezing cold

“Fargo” had a fine night, winning three of a leading five Emmys for FX. Colin Bucksey won for directing a movie, miniseries or dramatic special.

Backstage, Bucksey offered some keys to success for shooting on location.

“Wearing boots that are good down to minus-140 degrees,” he said.

What else?

“Using a blow torch to keep a piece of equipment — a dolly — from freezing.”

Laverne Cox pauses to marvel at scene

“Orange Is the New Black” star Laverne Cox, who made history as the first openly transgender Emmy acting nominee, said being at the awards was nothing short of surreal.

“These are dreams I planted for myself many years ago,” she said.

She added: “A black transsexual from Alabama is at the Emmys … I am grateful every single day.”

The final march of ‘Mad Men’

“Mad Men” creator Matt Weiner may not have won an Emmy on Monday, but he had other things to occupy his mind — like the conclusion to his celebrated series.

“I just saw the editor’s version of the finale, and that was weird,” he said.

“The last couple of days of filming were very emotional. I wrote the pilot 14 years ago. This a third of my life so far.”
