Oops! ... She’s acting again? Pop mistress Britney Spears will guest star in the upcoming second season of the CW’s “Jane the Virgin.”

The announcement hit at just the right time: Tuesday marks the network’s portion of panels at the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Beverly Hills. Spears spilled the beans on Twitter:

“See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue”

CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters on Tuesday that show creator Jennie Snyder Urman and CBS Studios, which produces the dramedy, sought out the pop artist when they learned she was a fan of the show.

Spears, who has been making the rounds in Las Vegas with her residency at Planet Hollywood, will play herself on the show and a nemesis to Jane’s scene-stealing father, telenovela superstar Rogelio de la Vega (Jaime Camil). She’ll appear in Episode 205.

Urman said in a statement: “Personally, after hearing about their long-standing feud (from Rogelio’s point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’ side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney”

The appearance brings Spears back to the small screen. Her previous acting credits include “How I Met Your Mother” and “Will & Grace.” And, hey, who could forget her UPN reality series “Britney & Kevin: Chaotic”?

“Jane the Virgin” returns with its second season on Monday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
