Jennifer Love Hewitt will be back on TV, but her days as a masseuse-turned-prostitute are over. Instead, she’s going to be an undercover FBI agent who joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit of “Criminal Minds.”

Hewitt’s character, Kate Callahan, will join the series in its 10th season premiere on Oct. 10.

She’ll join the returning cast of the long-running CBS procedural, which includes Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness.

Hewitt is well known to regular CBS viewers, as her last network series, “Ghost Whisperer,” ran for five seasons on the network before ending in 2010.

Still, despite her sometimes criminal-tinged roles, such as in Lifetime’s “The Client List,” it will be a shock to see Hewitt as what’s being described as a “seasoned” undercover agent, the type of character that’s usually a little rough around the edges.

“The Client List” was canceled in November, just weeks before the actress gave birth to her first child, daughter Autumn James Hallisay.
