Gucci loans, Donatella approves, Tommy Bahama hits ‘The Pitch’

Donatella on “Donatella”: Although we weren’t even aware that Lady Gaga’s upcoming album had a song about Donatella Versace on it (titled “Donatella” nonetheless), Ms. Versace isn’t only aware of it, she “approves” of it. At least that’s the takeaway from New York magazine’s Cut blog -- based on the parsing of an email the designer reportedly sent to the Just Jared blog. [Cut]

Gucci’s “Rush” job: Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini, lent the label’s archives to the costume department for Ron Howard’s ‘70s-era Formula One racing flick “Rush.” Among the prized pieces appropriated for the pic, according to the Telegraph, are “knee-high booties, shaggy coats and [a] wide brimmed purple hat” worn by Olivia Wilde. Topshop-in-shops: The British Topshop and Topman brands are expanding their partnership with the Nordstrom department store chain, our Business section colleague Tiffany Hsu reported Turesday. According to Hsu, “Topshop capsules will open in 28 more Nordstrom locations starting in late September, bringing the total to 42 stores.”

Southern California Nordstroms locations included in the Topshop roll-out include stores at the Americana at Brand in Glendale, Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Fashion Valley in San Diego, Westfield Galleria at Roseville and Brea Mall. Topman shop-n-shops are set to open in Nordstrom doors at Horton Plaza in San Diego, Stonestown Galleria Mall in San Francisco and the Brea center. [L.A. Times]

Tommy strikes “The Pitch”: The Tommy Bahama brand is set to be featured on the Sept. 5 episode of AMC’s ad agency reality series “The Pitch,” according to fashion-industry trade paper WWD, which reports the episode will feature a troika of Tommy Bahamians “who will be choosing between two agencies and their creative ways of getting out the brand’s message.” [WWD (subscription required)]

Yipes stripes: A jaunty striped jacket worn by Dick Van Dyke’s Bert the chimney sweey character in the 1964 film “Mary Poppins” is up for bid in an online auction -- but only through Thursday at 5 p.m. Pacific. [All the Rage]
