When it comes to lashes, the bigger the better. Women are on a constant quest for fuller, longer lashes, and sometimes, a fancy mascara wand simply won't cut it. When you really want your eyes to pop, faux lashes are the only way to go. A new wave of affordable, natural looking falsies is the new norm at makeup studios around Los Angeles. Here are some options for getting a lush lash for holiday parties:
If you want low maintenance eye makeup but still want to get that full lash look every day, eyelash extensions are a worthy investment. At Lashfully in Beverly Hills, owner Liv Contreras runs a team that specializes in lashes. It takes about 90 minutes for a lash expert to apply a false lash to every natural lash using a special adhesive. The procedure costs $150 and is painless. The lashes last for about a month and fall out when your natural lashes do.
Lashfully also offers full makeup services along with individual and lash strip applications.

Individual lash applications
Individual false lashes are an affordable, easy way to add volume to lashes for a special occasion. Blushington Makeup and Beauty Lounge in West Hollywood can give you a quick fix. It takes about 15 minutes for a makeup artist to apply around 15 to 20 individual false lashes to the lash line. The application costs $15 and lasts for a couple of days or a single night, depending on when you take off your eye makeup.
Blushington also offers full eyelash extensions ($175) and tinting ($20).

Another option is the Fairest Makeup Studio in Old Town Pasadena, where clients can choose from a variety of individual false lashes.
You can get just a couple of lashes on the outer eye ($10) or go for what they call the "Bambi Watch Out" application for a full set of individual faux lashes ($20). Clients may choose standard eyelash glue, which lasts for a night, or a longer-lived glue that lasts for around a week.

The classic lash strip
Sometimes you need the big, blatantly fake, over-the-top lash look you can get only with a pair of false strips. For those nights that call for drama, you can go to any MAC Cosmetics counter to purchase fake lashes and have a makeup artist apply them free. Their lash strips range in shape and density but cost around $16. Find locations at maccosmetics.com.Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
