Limited edition . . . ketchup?

“Limited edition” is usually associated with luxury products -- a French handbag, fabulous wine, an intricate watch or a fancy sports car -- but rarely with a product that costs $2.49 retail. But that old fridge standby, Heinz Ketchup, has just introduced a limited edition jalapeño ketchup in time for the holidays.

And for their more than 1 million Facebook fans (who knew ketchup had fans or that anybody would bother to “like” something as mundane as ketchup? A sure sign that many people have too much time on their hands!), Heinz has a special offer.

The new ketchup -- official name “Heinz Tomato Ketchup Blended with Real Jalapeño” -- won’t be on retail shelves until the new year. But now through Dec. 7, it’s available for purchase exclusively through Facebook. Visit the Heinz Ketchup Facebook page to order.
