Andy Roddick to retire, Rimes checks into rehab

Tennis player and Lacoste fragrance model Andy Roddick has announced he will retire after the U.S. Open. Roddick made the decision to hang up his tennis shoes after winning the first round in New York. Roddick won the U.S. Open back in 2003 and reached the finals in 2006. [LA Times]

Fans of the game will miss Roddick’s killer serves while those sartorially inclined will have to do without his Lacoste outfits. The French sports apparel brand has been a longtime sponsor of Roddick and he’s frequently seen wearing their duds on and off the court. Roddick has also been sponsored by luxury watch brand Rolex.

LeAnn Rimes voluntarily checked into rehab Wednesday to deal with emotional issues. Rimes’ rep told People magazine that the singer checked into a 30-day inpatient treatment facility to get help coping with stress and anxiety. [People]

A N.Y. judge gave J.C. Penney the green light Friday to sell Martha Stewart Living products by denying a request for a preliminary injunction that would have stopped the department store from carrying the products. Macy’s brought suit against Martha Stewart Living in January in an attempt to stop the company from reaching a sales agreement with J.C. Penney. Macy’s claims it has exclusive rights to sell certain Martha Stewart Living products. [Bloomberg]
