Bourbon Steak whiskey dinner, Caffe Luxxe turns 8, Acme downtown bar crawl

Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina in Glendale is hosting a whiskey dinner, VIP Night at Bourbon Steak, on Tuesday. Caffe Luxxe is celebrating its 8th anniversay through Friday, Aug. 8, with a drawing at 8 a.m. each day for prizes such as bags of freshly roasted Colombian coffee, northern Italian style roasted espresso beans named Testa Rossa, gift cards, goody bags and more. A grand prize winner also will be chosen on Friday. Acme Hospitality Group’s bar crawl takes place on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. at its five downtown bars: Beelman’s Pub, Spring St. Bar, Library Bar, Sixth St. Tavern and King Eddy Saloon. All locations are within a few square downtown blocks, and each will feature a special spirit (served neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail) and snack: Library Bar’s Wisers Rye Whiskey and Carolina-style pulled pork sliders; Sixth St. Tavern’s Absolut Vodka and Rockenwagner pretzel with beer cheese; at Spring St. Bar, Altos Tequila and Cuban sandwich; at Beelman’s Pub, Beefeater Gin and gravy fries; and King Eddy’s Jameson Whiskey and Frito chili pie. Bar crawlers can start at any of the establishments, but plan to end up at King Eddy Saloon, where there will be a ‘90s disco and raffled giveaways. Tickets are $35 presale and $45 at the door.
