Bay Cities Godmother delivery, Wexler’s smoked fish to go, Eastside food fest

Share

When a craving for a Bay Cities Italian Deli and Bakery Godmother sandwich hits, things can get pretty intense. Hanger (anger caused by hunger) sets in, but the thought of driving to Santa Monica, from downtown or wherever you live, can make you even more angry.

Lucky for your stomach, and those around you, UberFresh is delivering Godmother sandwiches, with the works, for lunch today.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Godmother (I’m shaking my head), it’s a sandwich with salami, mortadella, cappacola, ham, prosciutto and provolone on Bay Cities’ famous bread. The works includes mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, Italian dressing and hot pepper salad. You want the works.

The sandwich is available for delivery through UberFresh for $11, plus the delivery fee. Check out the UberFresh coverage map to see if the sandwich is coming your way. And DTLA, don’t worry, you’re covered.

In other high-five-worthy culinary news, Wexler’s at Grand Central Market will start offering its lox and smoked sturgeon by the pound Friday. That means you can bring some smoked fish over to Grandma’s house for brunch, finally.

The smoked fish will be available daily for $24 per 1/2 pound, on a first-come-first-served basis.

And if you’re on the Eastside, the fifth Taste of the Eastside is happening May 31. More than 30 restaurants from the Atwater, Silver Lake, Echo Park and Los Feliz areas are scheduled to participate, including L&E Oyster bar, Malo and Little Dom’s.

To drink, there’s to be flights from Silver Lake Wines and a beer garden hosted by the Greyhound Bar & Grill. Also scheduled is music by KCRW DJ Raul Campos and Garth Trinidad with live music from Podunk Poets and Redd Carter.

The festival is set for the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. For more information on tickets and pricing, visit www.tasteoftheeastside.com
