Piero Selvaggio is proud to say that his Santa Monica Italian restaurant Valentino celebrates its 42nd anniversary this year. And instead of a party, he and chef Nico Chessa are putting on a special white truffle menu Thursday through Saturday Dec, 6. After a welcome glass of Champagne and various assaggini, or little tastes, including truffled egg crostini, comes the pasta course: veal agnolotti with fonduta and white truffles from Alba. The main course is either Napa quail with polenta or grilled venison chop, both served with more white truffle. Dessert is a classic red wine-poached pear with mascarpone and Gorgonzola. The cost of the 4-course menu is $175 per person. And to note, for this special event, guests are welcome to take their own wine and enjoy complimentary corkage. Make a reservation by calling (310) 920-4313 or online. Valentino is at 3115 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.
