The food lineup for Desert Trip may be even more impressive than Coachella’s

The Desert Trip, the new Indio music festival at the Empire Polo Club that’s being headlined by the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney, aims to be a destination for food lovers as well as music fans.

Held Oct. 7, 8 and 9 and organized by Golden Voice (the same people who put on Coachella), the festival will feature three days of music — Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Roger Waters, The Who — and a culinary lineup of some of the most well-known chefs in the country.

Some of the Los Angeles chefs confirmed to participate include Curtis Stone (Maude), Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mec), Michael Voltaggio (ink), Michael Mina (Bourbon), Kris Morningstar (Terrine), Chris Oh (Hanjip), Michael Hung (Viviane), Phillip Frankland Lee (Scratch Bar), Steven Fretz (Church Key), Jason Neroni (Rose), Marcel Vigneron (Wolf), Dakota Weiss (Estrella), Christian Page (formerly at the now-closed Short Order), Duff Goldman (Duff’s Cakemix) and Guy Turland (Bondi Harvest).

Festival guests will be able to buy tickets to Outstanding in the Field dinners, such as the ones that take place at Coachella, where a sit-down, multi-course meal is presented to concert-goers. Golden Voice has yet to announce which chefs will participate in the dinners, and which will have their own food booths at the festival.

Other participating chefs include Daniel Humm (Eleven Madison Park), Marcus Samuelsson (Ginny’s Supperclub in New York City), Elia Aboumrad (former “Top Chef” contestant with a downtown L.A. restaurant planned), Dominique Ansel (yes, this is the guy who invented the Cronut), Scott Conant (Impero Caffè), Jamie DeRosa (Tongue & Cheek in Miami), Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn in San Francisco), Dean Fearing (Fearing’s Restaurants in Texas), Ilan Hall (Ramen Hood), Kristen Kish (formerly at Menton Boston and a former “Top Chef” contestant), and Rajat Parr (sommelier and partner at Sandhi Wines). More chefs are expected to be added to the lineup in the next couple of days.

Stone Brewing’s Greg Koch will curate the craft beer program for the festival and Cedd Moses of 213 Hospitality and the Houston Brothers from Houston Hospitality will create the cocktail program. Guests will be able to buy tickets to a wine tasting hosted by Parr ($179), a food and cocktail experience by Moses and the Houston brothers ($159 per person per day) and a craft beer and food experience by Koch ($129 per person per day).

Guests can also buy a weekend bundle food experience pass ($499 per person per day). Tickets to the festival and food and drink experiences will be available for purchase at www.deserttrip.com Monday.
