Mother’s Day brunch dining guide: Where to take your mom, with cocktails

For putting up with our cry-all-night months, terrible 2s, teenage years and college tattoos, the least we can do is take our mothers out to a nice brunch. Here’s a list of places with Mother’s Day brunch and dinner specials. There will be eggs, there will be pancakes, and there will be mimosas. And don’t worry, a couple restaurants are serving bottomless mimosas — for when your mom decides to take a trip down memory lane, with a photo album.

Abigaile: The Hermosa Beach restaurant will serve brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A brunch buffet will be available on the rooftop bar for $31 per person and include pastries and jam; omelette station; smoked salmon and a bloody Mary bar for an additional $15. Ammo Cafe at the Hammer Museum: The restaurant has just launched a new brunch menu, and will be serving brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mother’s Day. The menu includes olive oil-fried eggs with chickpeas, harissa yogurt and grilled olive bread; sticky buns with caramelized pecans; and carnitas tacos. Birch: Brendan Collins’ new Hollywood restaurant will serve Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brunch is $39 per person and includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. Highlights include Japanese hamachi; lobster capelini; and sticky toffee pudding. For children five and younger, brunch is free. You can also add bottomless mimosas for $16. 1634 N. Cafe del Rey: The restaurant will serve a three-course prix-fixe menu, with your choice of sparkling wine, mimosa or bloody Mary for $50 per person. Café Pinot: The Patina Restaurant Group restaurant is offering a three-course menu for $55 for adults and $19 for children age 10 and under. Cast at Viceroy Santa Monica: A Mother’s Day brunch buffet will be served from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is priced at $65 per adult and $25 per child age 10 and under. Circa 55 at the Beverly Hilton: A traditional brunch buffet will include a sushi and seafood bar, salads, antipasti, breakfast, carving station, entrees, pastas, fruit and dessert. Chaya Downtown and Chaya Venice: Both locations are offering three-course prix fixe brunch menus for $45 per person. The downtown location will have make-your-own bottomless mimosas, a dessert buffet and live jazz music, while the Venice location will have Champagne specials and punchbowls. Descanso Gardens: There will be a buffet-style brunch with seatings at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Brunch will include a baker’s basket with assorted whole fruit; organic oatmeal; a baked potato bar; carved roast beef; and crepes made to order. The buffet is $57 per member adult and $24 per member children age 10 and under. Fig & Olive Melrose Place: A three-course prix-fixe menu will be served for brunch ($40) and dinner ($52). Brunch dishes include Maine lobster bisque; omelettes; Riviera salmon; and nougat ice cream. For dinner, braised octopus; zucchini blossom and goat cheese ravioli; fig and gorgonzola risotto; and panna cotta. Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse: All locations of the restaurant, including Beverly Hills and the new downtown L.A. location, will extend their hours, opening at 11 a.m. and serving guests until 9 p.m. The restuarant will serve its traditional Brazilian BBQ meal, which includes salad, vegetables and rice. Prices vary based on location. Meals for children age 6 and younger are free. Children age 7 to 12 are half price. Hinoki & the Bird: For the first time, the restaurant will be serving Mother’s Day brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Brunch specials include oyako toast with soft scrambled eggs, crispy chicken, green garlic and shiso aioli; citrus-marinated Maine lobster with chilled somen noodles; and chile crab eggs Benedict with milk bread and Sriracha hollandaise. Kendall’s Brasserie and Bar: The restaurant is offering a three-course brunch with house-cursed salmon; grilled chicken paillard; and cherry clafoutis. LACMA Café: The restaurant is offering a brunch buffet and picnic with a classic eggs Benedict; thick-cut brioche Frencht toast; smoked salmon; fresh baked pastries; and assorted petits fours and mini desserts. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $45 for adults and $19 for children age 10 and younger. 5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles. The Larchmont: There will be a three-course prix-fixe menu for $45 per person with children’s menu for $15. L’Assiette Steak Frites: The restaurant is known for its steak frites, but is also introducting three new dishes, including salmon tartare; sous-vide wild mushroom chicken breast; and seared foie gras with a cassis port wine reduction. On Mother’s Day, the new dishes, along with a steak rossini (coulotte steak with foie gras and shaved black truffles); and the classic steak frites with shaved black truffle will be available. Livello at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills: Brunch specials will be served a la carte from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dishes include roasted halibut with broccolini; seared shrimp with fennel and orange-Pernod reduction; lobster risotto; and passion fruit panna cotta. Lucques: Suzanne Goin and April Bloomfield (of the Spotted Pig in New York City) will prepare a special Mother’s Day editon of the restuarant’s Sunday supper series, inspired by Bloomfield’s second cookbook, “A Girl and her Greens.” Featured dishes include roasted carrots with carrot-top pesto; morels and Madeira cream on toast; and sweet corn ice cream with butterscotch and caramel popcorn. Market City Caffe: The restaurant is serving its regular weekend brunch menu along with a couple of Mother’s Day specials, including a smoked salmon plate and French toast. You can also order tableside bloody Marys and bottomless mimosas. A special kids breakfast with plain or chocolate chip pancakes will also be available. And moms will be treated to a free glass of Champagne. Brunch will be served from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. and there will be live music starting at 11 a.m. 164 E. The Music Center: The restaurant is offering a buffet-style brunch with Bagel Broker bagels and smoked salmon; scrambled eggs; Belgian waffles and more. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is $55 for adults and $22 for children 10 and younger. Rock Sugar Pan Asian Kitchen: The restaurant will be serving a four-course menu from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., available for parties of two or more.
