Chef Ludo Lefebvre, who will reappear as a judge of the new season of ABC’s “The Taste” starting Thursday, says he’s opening a new restaurant in 2014, Petit Trois.

It’s the spin-off of Trois Mec, the restaurant he and partners Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook of Animal and Son of a Gun opened in April. Requiring diners to buy non-refundable tickets in advance of their meals, Trois Mec made headlines even before it opened and has since become one of the hottest restaurants in Los Angeles.

On Tuesday Lefebvre tweeted: “2013 amazing year 4 @TroismecLA - THANK YOU!! excited 4 our new little baby next door @PetittroisLA @VDotolo J.Shook”

The tweet included a photo of the exterior of the storefront next to Trois Mec, located in a strip mall off of Highland Avenue, just north of Melrose Avenue. [UPDATED: The original story said the strip mall was on Melrose, it faces Melrose, but there is a service station in between] Petit Trois will open in the space that formerly was Tasty Thai. Its opening date was not announced.
