Second Round

INVITATIONAL DIVISION

Garfield 11, Bell 1
Erika Alvarez threw a two-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks for Garfield (20-5). Desiree Lara had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs, Socorro Sanchez had four hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in a run and Jennifer Blanco had three hits, two runs and drove in a run.

Second Round

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Birmingham 5, Eagle Rock 0
Pauline Morquecho (21-4) pitched her 11th shutout and Carla Arreola drove in three runs for host Birmingham (24-8). Eagle Rock finishes 16-7.

Carson 10, Lincoln 0
Danira Iolamo pitched a one-hitter, allowing only an infield single in the third inning, with 19 strikeouts and no walks and went two for three with two RBIs, and Liz Vasquez was two for three with a two-run double and two runs scored to lead host No. 18-ranked, No. 2-seeded Carson (26-8), which hosts Westchester on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Lincoln is 19-5.

El Camino Real 8, Verdugo Hills 0
Sophomore Megan Miller (15-6) pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts to record her second shutout of the playoffs and 11th of the season for host El Camino Real (24-6). Kelly Oswald hit a two-run home run and had a two-run single. Verdugo Hills finishes 11-13.

San Pedro 2, Crenshaw 0
Senior right-hander Ashley Esparza (17-1) threw a two-hitter with 17 strikeouts for her 14th shutout of the season and singled in Jackie Conlin for the first run of the game and Nicole Castagnola doubled in the second run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead host No. 11-ranked, No. 1-seeded San Pedro (26-3). Freshman Chachera Brantley threw a three-hitter with three strikeouts for No. 16-seeded Crenshaw (15-4).

Sun Valley Poly 16, Locke 0
Sasha Snyder (10-5) struck out 13 to post her second no-hitter of the season and Melissa Tachias drove in six runs for host Poly (17-9). Tachias had a two-run home run, a two-run single and two run-scoring singles.

Sylmar 7, Canoga Park 0
Stephanie Boshae (16-0) pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and Bianca Mejia hit a two-run home run for host Sylmar (19-0).

Westchester 6, Venice 1
Jennifer Hodrick (18-7) pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and Nicole Gillet hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for host and seventh-seeded Westchester (20-7). Venice finishes 16-10-1.

Wilmington Banning 4, South Gate 0

Bravo 7, Cleveland 0
Pitcher Jessica Villegas had a triple and two RBIs and pitched a complete-game shutout for Bravo (14-4).

Granada Hills Kennedy 15, Palisades 2 (5 innings)
Shortstop Vanessa Gonzalez went three for four with a home run for Kennedy (12-11). Pitcher Kaliegh Sanchez was two for two with five RBIs and went all five innings. Amanda Keables went four for four for Kennedy.

L.A. CES 3, Franklin 2
Jasmyn Culpepper had the game-winning two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead L.A. CES (11-5).

Narbonne 1, Fremont 0
Sarah Maclel (13-8) threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead host Narbonne (15-8).

First Round

Birmingham 16, Dorsey 0
Pauline Morquecho (20-4) had 10 strikeouts while earning her 60th career victory for host Birmingham (23-8). Carla Arreola’s two-run double highlighted an eight-run third inning.

Canoga Park 3, Bravo 2
Jessica Villegas (14-3) had 11 strikeouts over seven innings and had an RBI for host No. 14-seeded Bravo (14-3).

Carson 21, Fremont 0
Christina Schallig (7-1) pitched a four-hitter, her fourth shutout of the season, and struck out 11, and Valerie Apac had two hits, including a grand slam, with three runs scored for host No. 18-ranked, No. 2-seeded Carson (25-8).

Crenshaw 1, Granada Hills Kennedy 0
Sisters freshman Chanel Brantley and sophomore Chachera Brantley combined for a shutout and senior Kenora Posey bunted to first, then stole second base and scored off a bunt senior Sherrill Johnson for host No.16-seeded Crenshaw (15-3). Granada Hills Kennedy was seeded No. 17.

Eagle Rock 3, Taft 2 (10 innings)
Erica Kula, who hit a fly ball in the bottom of the 10th inning and reached third on an error, scored the deciding run on a single by Vanessa Escobar for host Eagle Rock (15-6). Taft is 9-15.

El Camino Real 8, Franklin 1
Megan Miller (14-6) pitched a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts for No. 4-seeded El Camino Real (23-6). Sarah Bass hit a two-run home run and Daryn Rose had a run-scoring double in the fourth inning.

Granada Hills 2, Garfield 1

Lincoln 2, Narbonne 1
Daniela Barragan stole third and scored on an error, and Cindy Trajo and Kashia Arteaga (2-0) combined on a three-hitter for host Lincoln (19-4). Sarah Maciel struck out 12 in five innings and allowed two hits with no walks for visiting Narbonne (13-9) before leaving the game with a hip injury.

San Fernando 6, Bell 2
Brenda Piniagua was four for four and scored two runs and Lorraine Marquez (2-3) pitched a complete game to lead No. 9-seeded San Fernando (15-11).

San Pedro 3, Palisades 0
Senior right-hander Ashley Esparza (16-1) pitched a perfect game, her fourth no-hitter this season, with a career-best 17 strikeouts, and was two for three for host No. 11-ranked, No. 1-seeded San Pedro (25-3). Freshman catcher Katelyn Oro and Andrea Fuentes each had an RBI in the second inning, Jackie Conlin had an RBI single in the fifth, and freshman right fielder Kayleigh Raciak added two hits on bunts, a stolen base and a run scored for the Pirates. Palisades is 10-11.

South Gate 4, Sun Valley Poly 2
Kristeen Garcia hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to lead host No. 11-seeded South Gate (16-9-1) over No. 22-seeded Sun Valley Poly (16-9-1).

Sylmar 6, Cleveland 0
Bianca Mejia hit a two-run home run in the second inning, Adriana Gonzalez had a double, and right-hander Stephanie Boshae (14-0) threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks for host No. 3-seeded Sylmar (18-0, 10-0).

Venice 9, Huntington Park 5
Michelle Sierra (9-1) gave up three runs on three hits with one strikeouts 4 1/3 innings and went three for five with a triple an two RBIs and two runs scored to lead visiting Venice over No. 10-seeded Huntington Park. Belinda Leos went three for four, Andrea Huerta hit a two-run home run and had a triple, and Brittany Maldonado added two hits for the Gondoliers.

Verdugo Hills 3, LACES 2

Westchester 7, L.A. Marshall 0
Amanda Steele and Jennifer Reed each had two-run homers and Jennifer Hodrick threw a perfect game for host Westchester (19-7).
