Mourners bid their final goodbyes Monday at a funeral service for slain Downey Police Officer Ricardo “Ricky” Galvez at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Galvez, 29, was killed the night of Nov. 18. He was sitting in his BMW in a parking lot next to Downey police headquarters when two people walked up and fatally shot him, investigators said.

He is the first officer to be gunned down in Downey Police Department history.
