Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Coalinga

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Sunday morning six miles from Coalinga, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:49 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 20 miles from Avenal, 32 miles from Lemoore and 35 miles from Mendota.

In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
