Earthquake: Magnitude 3.2 quake strikes near Salton Sea

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Friday evening in Imperial County southwest of the Salton Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:41 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 22 miles from El Centro, 20 miles from Imperial and 21 miles from Brawley.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
