Earthquake: Magnitude 3.0 quake strikes near Big Pine, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Wednesday six miles from Big Pine, Calif., in the Eastern Sierra, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:09 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 69 miles from Dinuba, Calif., 70 miles from Exeter, Calif., and 71 miles from Reedley, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
