Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Ribbonwood, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Monday morning seven miles from Ribbonwood, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:21 a.m. PDT at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 15 miles from La Quinta, 17 miles from Palm Desert, and 18 miles from Rancho Mirage.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
