The second suspect wanted in connection with the home break-in and sexual assault of an 85-year-old San Jose woman has been arrested, police said Monday.

Investigators arrested the 16-year-old boy Friday in San Jose on suspicion of burglary and sexual assault, said San Jose Police Sgt. Heather Randol.

Randol released few details about the boy’s arrest because she said the assault is still under investigation.

“This is a very traumatic situation,” she said.

The arrest comes after he and a 15-year-old boy allegedly broke into the woman’s home in the 1500 block of Sunshadow Lane about 4 a.m. last Tuesday and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman’s husband was not injured.

The suspects took several valuables and left in the couple’s car, which they later crashed into a home during a 10-minute pursuit with California Highway Patrol officers, police said.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene of the crash, and police said the second boy fled the area.

In the days after the incident, officers with the San Jose Police Officers’ Assn. purchased a new bed for the couple and a phone for the hearing impaired, Randol said.

They helped the couple clean up their home and replace a window.
