Authorities looking for witnesses in fatal Sylmar crash
Investigators are looking for witnesses to a Friday evening traffic collision in Sylmar that left two people dead, police said.
The victims were passengers in a black 2005 Nissan 300Z that lost control near the intersection of San Fernando Road and Sunshine Canyon before crashing into a van about 7:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victims, who were not immediately identified, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The 18-year-old driver of the Nissan, identified as Eldridge Salguero, a resident of Van Nuys, suffered major injuries according to the LAPD.
The Nissan was traveling south on San Fernando Road when it swerved into the northbound lanes and collided with a silver 2013 Honda Odyssey, the police statement said.
The 44-year-old driver of the van and her 11-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
