A man died after his boat crashed into rocks Tuesday near the Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse in San Pedro.
The boat crashed about 1:21 p.m., prompting an immediate search for survivors, officials say.
Firefighters searched the hull of the boat and found the man unconscious, said Erik Scott, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
They pulled him out of the significantly damaged boat and performed CPR. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
Meanwhile, firefighters dove into the water to search for additional victims.
Firefighters determined no one else was in the boat or the water, Scott said.
The extent of the man's injuries was unclear, as was what caused the boat to crash.
