Firefighters put out fire, discover body near Northridge middle school
Firefighters discovered a dead body Monday morning after extinguishing a rubbish fire near a middle school in Northridge, authorities said.
Few details were released about the body, including a possible cause of death or an identity. It was discovered about 6:47 a.m. in the 19300 block of West Lassen Street adjacent to Nobel Middle School.
The remains were found as firefighters put out the rubbish fire, which appeared to be threatening a nearby structure, Los Angeles Fire spokeswoman Katherine Main said.
LAPD detectives were at the scene investigating the incident.
