Three people were rushed to trauma centers late Wednesday after a car slammed into an ice cream parlor in an Irvine strip mall, authorities said.

The crash was reported at Afters Ice Cream about 9:10 p.m. near Alton Parkway and Jamboree Road, said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The driver of a Hyundai Sonata rammed through the glass walls at the front of the store and came to a halt at the ice cream counter, striking two teenagers inside, Kurtz said.
