El Segundo man arrested in child porn case found dead in possible suicide

An El Segundo man who was recently arrested in connection with possessing more than 100,000 images of child pornography was found dead Monday of a possible suicide, officials said.

El Segundo police said they went to the home of Ian Maclure to check on him. They found him dead.

His death is being investigated as possible suicide, L.A. County coroner’s officials said.

Maclure, 58, was arrested June 9 after officers with the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched his El Segundo home and found the pornographic materials.

They had received a tip that Maclure was trading and downloading child pornography, police said.

Investigators recovered more than 100,000 images and 1,000 videos of child pornography on digital devices inside his home, police said.

He was booked at the LAPD’s detention center but was released after posting $20,000 bail.

He was expected to appear in court June 30, police said.
