Three 14-year-old girls were walking back to their North Hollywood school Wednesday when they were struck by a driver who didn’t stop after he hit them, a CHP official said.

The girls, reportedly students at Oakwood School, were walking back to the campus about 1:35 p.m. after a physical education class at a nearby park.

They were struck by a 2013 Toyota Prius when they entered a crosswalk on Magnolia Boulevard, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Leland Tang.

The driver, identified as a 48-year-old man from Valley Village, was coming off the 170 Freeway offramp when he hit the girls on Magnolia, Tang said.

“We don’t know how fast he was driving from the offramp, or if charges will come from this” Tang said, noting it was still early in the investigation.
After striking the girls, the driver collided with a Nissan Altima on Magnolia Boulevard before coming to rest on a curb.

The girls’ names were not immediately released. Two were in serious condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; the third was in critical condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
The driver was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Prius’ windows were smashed in the collision, KTLA-5 reported.
