A former Brea high school math teacher was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old male student, prosecutors said.
Michelle Lynn Johnson, 46, of Anaheim pleaded guilty to three felony counts of oral copulation of a minor and two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, the Orange County district attorney's office said in a statement.
At the time of the assaults, Johnson was a math teacher at Brea Olinda High School and tutored several students during non-school hours. Johnson met the victim at the high school, prosecutors said.
The sexual assaults occurred between April and June 2013 on and off the campus. The student's parents contacted police after becoming suspicious of the relationship between Johnson and their son.
At the sentencing hearing Tuesday, the parents of the victim said the crime not only harmed their son, but also negatively affected them and the rest of their family.
