L.A. Police Museum named ‘Awesome Museum’ by children’s group
The Los Angeles Police Museum has been named one of the “Most Awesome Museums” by Red Tricycle, an organization that promotes child-friendly activities.
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck plans to highlight the award Thursday at the museum in the old Highland Park police station at 6045 York Blvd.
“The nation’s preeminent Police Museum, the LA Police Museum, shares LAPD’s rich history via an engaging audio tour and numerous fascinating exhibits,” wrote Red Tricycle. “This is the perfect place to take your kiddo who can’t get enough of learning about the ‘good guys,’ and children 12 and under get free admission.”
Mug shots, jail cells and exhibits, such as one on the 1997 North Hollywood shooting, make the museum a unique window into the LAPD’s history, with generations of police vehicles.
The old police station has been featured in several movies and TV shows.
