Car strikes mother, child near Hollywood middle school

A mother and her child were hit by a car in Hollywood and transported to a local hospital with injuries early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Police and fire personnel responded to the corner of West Sunset Boulevard and North Bronson Avenue around 7:50 a.m. after reports that a car hit pedestrians.

Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes said a mother and child were hit by a car, but their condition was not immediately clear. She added that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The age of the child was not immediately released, but according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Twitter account, the collision occurred near Joseph Le Conte Middle School.

NBC4 reported that the mother and child were in a crosswalk when they were struck by the vehicle.
