Drivers brace for traffic jams as Obama visits Jay Leno in Burbank
Commuters and residents in the San Fernando Valley are bracing for traffic tie-ups Tuesday when President Obama visits “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in Burbank and overnights in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officials are warning drivers to avoid the areas around the following intersections in Burbank, Canoga Park and Woodland Hills on Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.:
-- Hollywood Way and San Fernando Road
-- Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard
-- Hollywood Way and Alameda
-- Olive Avenue and Buena Vista
-- Sherman Way and Hayvenhurst Avenue
-- Victory Boulevard and Canoga Avenue
-- Canoga Avenue and Burbank Boulevard
On Wednesday morning, the LAPD suggests drivers avoid these areas between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.:
-- Sherman Way and Hayvenhurst Avenue
-- Victory Boulevard and Canoga Avenue
-- Canoga Avenue and Burbank Boulevard
Obama is scheduled to tape with Leno on Tuesday afternoon for the 11:30 p.m. show. Obama is making his sixth appearance on the show, third as president.
Obama has been on a national tour promoting a new “grand bargain” on the economy that would cut corporate tax rates while also closing loopholes. Under the plan, new revenue would then allow more money for public infrastructure projects to create middle-class jobs.
Obama is scheduled to then visit Marines at Camp Pendleton on Wednesday.
