A brush fire in Pacific Palisades has grown to about five acres but is no longer threatening homes, authorities said.

About 200 firefighters are battling the blaze, which was first reported about 12:30 p.m. in the 17100 block of Avenida de Santa Ynez, said Los Angeles fire spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The fire had come near a row of condominiums but firefighters were able to control that flank of the blaze and it is no longer threatening structures, Humphrey said. The fire has been growing at a slow to moderate pace and nearby residents were urged to monitor any news of the fire and to prepare to leave the area, though no evacuations have been ordered yet.

“We are gaining the proverbial upper hand in this blaze,” Humphrey said.

No injuries have been reported.
